The Dachstein-Tauern Region - any attempt
to describe the atmosphere here and all the many and varied
opportunities,
always seems to end in failure or cliches which simply don't
do justice to our own personal piece of heaven.
The impressions which you will take home with you are simply
too varied, too unique - imagine hiking for mile upon mile
along romantic walking trails far away from the busy roads.
Idyllic winter landscapes invite you to ski, snowboard, carve,
enjoy an enchanting horse-drawn sleigh ride and so much more.
One of the most superbly laid-out cross-country glacier trails
on the Dachstein offers ever-changing highlights and magical
winter landscapes. The region on and around the Dachstein
has developed in recent years into a sports mecca renowned
throughout the world.
In 1999, this was the venue for the Nordic Ski World Championships.
Pichl is centrally located in the midst of the "Ski Amadé"
alliance, with free ski shuttles, state-of-the-art lifts and
modern snow-making equipment. Crowded slopes and long waits
are truly a thing of the past.
The Amade Ski Alliance encompasses these regions: Salzburger
Sportwelt, Schladming- Dachstein- Tauern, Gastein, Grossarltal
and Hochkönig's Winter Kingdom.
Which means, you have access to an almost unimaginable 865
(!) km of slopes and 276 lifts - all on a single pass!
Our region also serves up countless opportunities during the
summer months: hiking and cycling paths, numerous cultural
and tourist attractions, and an imposing Alpine world just
waiting to be explored by you. And the picture is completed
by swimming lakes, beautiful in- and outdoor pools, and all
kinds of summer events.
